Dear Preschool Families,
Welcome to Preschool! This is a welcoming and loving environment where your child is free to grow and learn each day. My goal is for each child to feel safe and accepted in my classroom. We become almost like a family during the school year. Preschool is the perfect time to foster a true love for school. We learn shapes, colors, patterns, letters and phonics, counting and early math concepts, basic religion principles, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and more.
The social skills learned in Preschool are just as important as the academic skills. The students learn to play cooperatively together. They learn to take turns, share, and help each other. We take the time to look, listen, and assess what friends may be saying through words and body language. This is so important to learn early on! The students also learn to use words first instead of shouting or being physical to get a point across.
Finally, I'd like to give you a little information about me. I graduated from University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. I also have an Associate of Applied Science as a Teacher Paraprofessional. I began my Early Childhood Education journey as an infant and toddler caregiver. From that point I moved up to the infant and toddler lead teacher position. I then taught one year of Preschool and since then have taught three years of PreK. Last year was my first year at Saint Charles teaching Preschool, and it has been such a wonderful experience! I am married with two daughters aged 7 and 3. My favorite things to do are reading and spending time with my family. We love to go on walks to the lake, ride bikes, and try out new parks and playgrounds.
I treat all my students with respect, like I would want my own children to be treated. I am passionate about doing my very best to prepare them for PreK and beyond. I truly love being a Preschool teacher here at Saint Charles and look forward to a fantastic 2021-2022 school year!
Sincerely,
Mikayla Lee
